At 850 m in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park
The municipality of Halblech, with the districts of Halblech, Buching and Trauchgau, lies on the edge of the Ammer Mountains, which at around 29,000 hectares form the largest nature reserve in Bavaria. The Ammergau Alps Nature Park was designated in 2017 and covers 227.38 km² with the greatest elevation range of any German nature park (approx. 800 to 2,185 m).
Around 200 km of hiking trails open up the region. Halblech is certified as a premium hiking location and is part of the Allgäuer Wandertrilogie.
